BREAKING: Many Vehicles Burnt As Petrol Tanker Explodes In Akure

Men of the Ondo State Fire Service are currently battling to put off a fire outbreak as a result of a petrol tanker which fell off the road in Akure,the state capital.

The incident happened at the busy Onyarugbulem Junction, along Akure-Owo expressway.

When our correspondent visited the scene, five vehicles, shops and houses close to the area have been affected by the fire incident.

As at press time, it cannot be confirmed the number of people who were involved in the fire incident

An eyewitness, who spoke with our correspondent said the petrol laden tanker was coming from Lagos and the container fell off at the junction.

He said,

”The tanker was coming from Lagos and you know this junction in always busy. A Toyota SUV was approaching from the Orange fm road and in the process of trying to match the break, the container fell on the vehicle and cought fire immediately.

” From what I can see here, people have been burnt in the fire and you know it is difficult to see now when the fire is still on.“

Vehicular movements at the busy expressway had been affected,as motorists now make use of alternative routes in the Akure metropolis.
